Your training rate covers more than just the time in the aircraft. Here's exactly what's included in each lesson charge — and what falls outside it.

1

What's included in the training rate

Each training lesson is charged at £295 per hour, based on block time. That rate includes the aircraft, your instructor, and — importantly — the briefings that frame every flight.

Aircraft and instructor
The aircraft and your instructor's time for the block time flown.
Up to 15 minutes pre-flight briefing
The instructor-led brief before your flight covering the planned exercise, weather, and aircraft status. Included in the training rate — not charged as additional block time.
Up to 15 minutes post-flight debrief
The debrief after landing — your instructor's assessment of the lesson, what went well, and what to work on next. Also included in the training rate.
Landing fees at Fife Airport
Fife Airport landing fees are included with your student membership. No charge applies for landing at Fife.
Headset
A headset is provided for your training. You're welcome to purchase your own if you prefer.

What's not included

A small number of costs sit outside the training rate and are charged separately.

Extended briefings and additional ground school
Pre-flight briefings beyond 15 minutes, and separate ground school sessions (charged per session, not by block time).
Landing fees at other airfields
If your training takes you to another airfield, their landing fee is charged at that airfield's rate and passed on to you.
CAA theory exam fees
CAA examination fees (£55 per exam) are charged separately at the time of the examination.
Medical examination fees
Aviation medical fees are payable directly to your Aviation Medical Examiner.

Ground school sessions

Ground school sessions — where you receive theory instruction without flying — are charged per session rather than by block time. Even where a session is shorter than one hour, the session rate applies.

These sessions cover the theoretical knowledge that underpins your flight training. They're often tied to a specific stage of the PPL syllabus and will be scheduled as part of your training plan.
